PSC Extends Police Constable Recruitment Deadline as Applications Top 400,000
…..Lagos, Anambra, Others Lag in Exercise
The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks following an overwhelming nationwide response.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Commission announced that the application portal, which opened on 15 December 2025, will now close on 8 February 2026.
According to the PSC, more than 400,000 applications have already been received since the recruitment exercise commenced.
However, a review of the submissions revealed significant disparities in participation across states of the federation.
While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra reported comparatively low turnout.
The Commission explained that the extension is intended to address the imbalance and promote equitable representation in the recruitment process.
Eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower application figures, have been urged to take advantage of the extended window to submit their applications.
Applications are to be completed through the official recruitment portal of the Police Service Commission.
The PSC also called on state governments, local government councils, sociocultural organisations, religious bodies, and community leaders to mobilise and sensitise qualified youths within their jurisdictions.
Stakeholders were encouraged to intensify awareness efforts to ensure that interested and eligible candidates do not miss the new deadline.
Reaffirming its commitment to credibility, the Commission emphasized that the recruitment process will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. The statement was signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Police Service Commission, Abuja.
