World Hepatitis Day 2026: The Legends Reaffirms Commitment to Building Healthier Communities
The Legends Support 4 Community Initiative has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting healthier communities through preventive healthcare, public education and advocacy as the world commemorates World Hepatitis Day 2026.
The organisation stated this in a press release issued to commemorate the annual global health awareness campaign dedicated to eliminating viral hepatitis.
According to the NGO, hepatitis remains a major public health concern that requires sustained collaboration among governments, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations and community leaders.
The organisation explained that one of the biggest challenges in tackling hepatitis is the fact that millions of infected persons remain unaware of their health status due to the absence of early symptoms.
It noted that timely diagnosis and access to treatment can significantly reduce the risk of severe complications while improving survival rates among patients.
The Legends disclosed that its World Hepatitis Day activities include community education programmes, awareness outreach and advocacy initiatives aimed at encouraging regular health screening and increased vaccination.
The organisation equally called on public institutions and development partners to strengthen healthcare systems by improving access to hepatitis testing, treatment and continuous public education across Nigeria.
President of the organisation, Sulaimon Ijaoba, reiterated that The Legends would continue to champion programmes focused on health promotion, youth development, humanitarian services and community empowerment.
The NGO concluded by urging Nigerians to support the global campaign against viral hepatitis through early testing, vaccination and collective action, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration would ultimately lead to a future free from the burden of the disease.
