GAJ Office Counters Claims on Falana Road Project, Insists Intervention Was Full-Scale Construction
Ejigbo, Lagos
The Office of Honorable Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson has dismissed claims by the OBE Media Team concerning the Falana Road project in Ejigbo, maintaining that the intervention facilitated by the lawmaker was a comprehensive road construction project and not a limited infrastructure effort.
In a statement issued by the GAJ Media Office, the office said it became necessary to respond in order to “clearly state the facts and correct deliberate attempts to distort public records.”
According to the statement, Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson facilitated and delivered a complete road construction project extending from Falana Street to Omiyale, insisting that the intervention went beyond surface enhancements.
“This was not a mere surface beautification or selective interlocking of a portion of the road. The project covered comprehensive construction works including proper road grading, drainage systems, gutter construction, and durable road infrastructure that today serves the people effectively,” the statement read.
The office further argued that the section referenced by the OBE Media Team was an entirely different stretch of the road where an existing drainage structure was already in place and only interlocking work was carried out.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the people of Ejigbo can conveniently visit the location themselves to verify the obvious difference between the limited intervention carried out then and the full-scale construction project facilitated by Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson,” the statement added.
The GAJ Media Office also alleged that the commencement of the project was known to the Ejigbo LCDA administration at the time but claimed that the intervention did not receive the expected cooperation.
“As a matter of fact, when the contractors mobilized to site with caterpillars and equipment at the commencement of the project, they were reportedly sent away from the site. This unfortunate action delayed progress on a project that was designed solely to improve the lives of residents and commuters within the area,” the statement claimed.
The office urged political supporters to avoid what it described as unnecessary narratives capable of distorting visible facts.
“We therefore advise supporters to desist from chasing shadows or attempting to rewrite facts that are visible for all to see. Our earlier statement was factual, verifiable, and based on the realities known to residents of Ejigbo,” it stated.
Calling for decorum in public engagement, the office maintained that development issues should not be reduced to political propaganda.
“Public discourse should be conducted with maturity and decorum. Developmental projects should not become subjects of unnecessary propaganda or personal attacks. The people deserve honesty, accountability, and leadership focused on genuine service delivery,” the statement noted.
The office also described the Falana Road intervention as one of the notable projects facilitated by Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson, adding that it was complemented with streetlights through senatorial intervention for the safety and benefit of residents.
The statement concluded by reaffirming its commitment to factual engagement and urged residents of Ejigbo LCDA and Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II to judge based on “visible evidence and verifiable records.”
