BREAKING: Rivers Governor Fubara Withdraws From APC Guber Primaries, Cites Peace and Unity

Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primaries, declaring that his decision was driven by the need to preserve peace, stability, and unity in the state.

In a dramatic statement released on Wednesday, the governor said the decision followed “deep reflection and extensive consultations” with family, friends, and political associates. He pledged total support for whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.

Fubara described the move as a painful but necessary sacrifice, insisting that leadership sometimes demands placing the collective interest above personal ambition.

The governor hinted at intense behind-the-scenes political pressures, stating that his silence in recent weeks had been “deliberate and strategic,” while also suggesting that many untold events shaped his decision.

Using a powerful proverb, Fubara said, “Not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace,” signaling that there were deeper political realities he chose not to publicly disclose for the sake of peace.

Despite stepping aside, the Rivers governor maintained that his withdrawal should not be mistaken for weakness or defeat, stressing that it was an act of conviction aimed at preventing further tension in the state.

Fubara also thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and encouragement, while urging APC faithful to remain loyal and united ahead of the forthcoming elections.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Rivers State until the expiration of his tenure.
