President Tinubu Nominates New CEOs for NMDPRA and NUPRC Following Resignations
Abuja, Nigeria – December 17, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated two experienced oil and gas professionals to lead the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The nominations follow the resignations of the agencies’ current chief executives and have been forwarded to the Senate for expedited confirmation.caf9d9,43e170,9c0619
The outgoing chiefs are Engr. Farouk Ahmed of NMDPRA and Engr. Gbenga Komolafe of NUPRC, both appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
President Tinubu has nominated:
Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive of NUPRC.
Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as Chief Executive of NMDPRA.
Profiles of the Nominees
Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan brings nearly 33 years of experience from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and its subsidiaries. A graduate of Economics from the University of Benin, she retired in 2024 as Executive Vice President, Upstream. She previously served as Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy (2019–2023).4d7a5c

Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, born in 1957 in Gombe State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University (1981). Recently appointed as an independent non-executive director at Seplat Energy, he has held key positions including Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company and Nigerian Gas Company. He also chaired boards of West African Gas Pipeline Company and Nigeria LNG subsidiaries.
As Group Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer (Gas & Power Directorate), Mohammed provided strategic leadership for major gas initiatives, including the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code, and contributions to the PIA. He played pivotal roles in projects such as the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline Expansion, Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, and Nigeria LNG Train.692996
